So, it's the start of week two. My typing speed is still nowhere near my qwerty speed, but it's definitely improving. More importantly, I can now type comfortably with it, rather than taking a supreme effort.
Other aspects of note...I've noticed it's fairly easy to transition between dvorak and qwerty without taking a setback. I can even run one program in qwerty and another in dvorak with a minimum of hassle. Also, my wrists didn't start to protest in earnest until pushup 30 last night, whereas they used to start getting seriously pissy around 10-15 (don't even ask how they'd feel by 30 before :P) Time will tell if this improvement was due to dvoraking, or to an overall slower typing speed.
In other news, I retrieved my Amazon package from the evil UPS facility. For the majority of the time I was there waiting for my package (35 minutes this time), the room had many disgruntled customers, also waiting. This gave me the chance to do some tech support for them.
Angry customer, still waiting: "Does it *usually* take you guys 20 minutes to bring a package to the front?!"
Me: "No, not usually."
Customer: "Oh?"
Me: "Yeah, they seem to average about 30-45 minutes."
I limited my UPS tech support to that, though, and thus wasn't about to take their side in the argument they were having with a woman who was insisting that hairspray isn't flammable. Best line of the afternoon occurred 25 minutes into my wait.
UPS Employee (to me): "Okay, sir? We're gonna go get your package." Gee, thanks! And I didn't get you anything, now I feel guilty! ;)
Anyways, now I have fun DVDs, and good reading material! Yaay! Movie night this weekend, anyone?
Something good: DVDs with bonus features
Something bad: Driving in a large snowstorm. In april.
Something disturbing: The fact that Abbott gives out raises on April Fools day...I felt as urge to check again today to make sure they didn't say "Just kidding!" ;)
