Lawyer fees: $400
Inspection fees: $275
Gas and tolls for repeated area viewings and document signing: $40
Earnest money: $1000

Buying your first home: Priceless

Fortunately, the purchase isn't going on Master Card!

So, yes, enveri and I most likely have a house now. Closing is mid-september, but the inspection's done, and unless something really bad happens between now and then, it's ours! All ours! Muahahaha!

Just wait until you see the final bill for the closing costs =p

Congrats you two, very very happy for you...

Congratulations! Man, I'm jealous. So sick of renting. Post some pics of the interior when you get the chance.
genetenveri on August 10th, 2004 06:44 pm (UTC)
Will do! I meant to bring my camera to the inspection, but forgot it.

Oops. :)

It's a lovely place though. 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, fenced in backyard and a deck. Needs a bit of TLC here and there (the previous tenants had 4 kids and a dog) but.. it's going to be fun!

We have an awesome partially finished basement and a full 2 car garage... oh yes, we're happy with it. :)

Wow, sounds huge! Looking forward to the pics, then. :) I'd be very interested in hearing about the house-buying process from you guys, actually. I have another friend who recently bought a house, and I've become increasingly more interested in the process. It seems so far out of reach sometimes, but I know it can be done.

So far, it can be described by "Woo! It's exciting!" and "Gah! It sucks!" ;)

For instance, right now, we have approximately 1 day left for my attorney to review the contract and the home inspection findings, and submit a revised contract. My realtor is the only one with the contract, and he's not only not faxed over the contract yet, he's been incommunicado all day. So...exciting, yes :P

And yeah, it's way larger than we'd hoped! 1800 square feet, or thereabouts, lots of room for guests *hint hint* ;)

Whoa! Fantastic! I didn't know you were moving that quickly on it!

Congrats! Looks like a great place! Good luck with all the closing fun.

Doh, I knew that. Really. (seriously. I'm at work, I get a few free brain bluescreens.)

WOOHOOOOOOO! Now I know why I've been bared from helping you move when I'm out there. I had no idea. ;)
genetenveri on August 10th, 2004 06:42 pm (UTC)
Fortunately, we're moving AFTER your visit.

And no, we didn't plan it that way. ;)

I will send along something house-warming as soon as I hear you've landed XD

That's fantastic news! It's a cute house, too--I bet it's just waiting to see what you guys can bring into it and what you'll do with it. Just remember to always respect the water heater.... (and yes, I speak from some moderate experience on that one...)

New Fennec Den!
Lanakila perks his head up high to see his two dear friends and ki ki ki's a heart-felt congratulations!

Skree! Wow! This is such awesome and exciting news for the two of you. Congratulations, Roho and Genet! The house looks mighty sweet and fine indeed!

Lanakila giggles at your commentary about fitting the whole mortgage on your MasterCard! Heehee! Silly Fennecy! :D

Your news brightened my afternoon. I'm so happy that you and Genet will soon become homeowners at long last!

Congratulations once again!

Aurethaureth on August 11th, 2004 02:16 am (UTC)
Sweet, dude! I drove through the area the house is in on 83, today, and thought about calling you to see if you had got it. I guess I should have! Congratulations!

Find the closest Home Depot or Menards (both, I think, in Gurnee Mills). You'll need them! :)

Yay, congrats you too! Now you're finally domesticated... I hope to be there someday.

Congrats! Nice place... looks a lot like one of the places I looked at in the Volo area last year, but from the sounds of the comments below, it's closer to the Waukeegan area :D

Let me know when you guys are moving and I'll lend a paw. And you guys have to come see my place one of these days. Been in mine for a year now!
Brendan: Grinnin Foolroho on August 11th, 2004 03:28 pm (UTC)
Actually, it's up in Antioch. We're gonna be pretty far north ;) And we'd love to see your place sometime!
