Well, just spent the first night in the new house! enveri and I brought over the futon mattress, along with a few other things (including a very perplexed Snark). Took a bit to cool off the upstairs (a few of the vents were closed, and it's finally been summer-like weather here), but I think we've got it set now! We also stopped on the way in for a few other bare essentials (smoke alarms, shower curtains/rods, DirecTV equipment.)

So, now I'm sitting in the house, waiting for two things; phone line, and furniture. Genet's off at work, and I'm hoping the phone installer arrives closer to 8 than noon (that's the window). Not much to do here otherwise but evict spiders...can't run the vacuum, even, cause our doorbell is rather quiet! And I already did as much as I can with the tools on hand for unclogging the world's narstiest drain.

So...off to find more spiders!

Yeah, I think you'd like the town it's in! ;)

Ooooooh you're so lucky! What do you still need? You guys need a housewarming gift ;)

You guys need a housewarming gift...

Like a few gallons of unleaded and a well-placed match!

Or a puppy...which could have approximately the same effect.

funny you should mention puppy...

Hrm...mostly, we're looking for decorating advice right now ;) The house was a rental property for the last year, and as such, has that typical 'bland' apartment-style paint and style. We really want to jazz it up a bit!

That, or a samoyed puppy ;)

Hey, continued good luck with the new house, move etc...

Breaking in a new place is always an adventure. Congrats!

But now where are we going to live?
Brendan: Snark!roho on September 17th, 2004 08:05 pm (UTC)
Now you shall live in the back yard, where the bugs are plentiful and juicy! Seriously, I dunno what all these spiders were living on, unless it was each other. I saw very few dead-bug husks. A few of the spiders I had to smush, cause they weren't in a catchable location, but I evicted as many as possible into the backyard wilderness.

One in the basement I'm actualyl curious about. It had the exact body shape of a widow, but once I could look at the abdomen closer, it had mottled brown spots, rather than the red hourglass! And very spindly, banded legs. Odd fellow...I hope he thrives in the yard!

I'm so glad they're all out in the yard. As a general rule, I like spiders, as they're very helpful critters.

But NOT in my house. O.o

Hrmm. Well, widows only turn black and get the hourglass when they're mature, and only the females end up this way. So maybe you had a young and/or male widow. (Widower?) Were there broken up jumbly cobwebs around?

Anyway, I hope they rally to your home's defense outside. :)

Tarin sneaks behind Roho with long cat-tail fuzzy and makes tickly brushes down the back of Rohos ear like a spider.

Grr...I hate spiders. When I find them in my apartment, they usually get the bottom of my shoe.

I have a house spider who lives in my computers. No, really, he lives in and around my two operational boxen. Primarily the older one, as the newer has air filters that make it hard for him to get in and out. I leave him there because a few summers ago we had a Biblical-class swarm of locusts. One of the bastards got inside the older box and was either exploded by the current on the board or caught by the auxiliary fan and summarily dismembered. After cleaning that mess up, I reckon it doesn't hurt to have someone watching my property for me.

Love your icon, by the way. Joukyo "A," baby.

I'm glad to know that there's someone else in the world like me, who prefers to scoop up spiders and give them a new home in a more... proper element, rather than kill them...

For me, the only trick is getting to them before Charlie's panicked shoe does =p
